Cabinetry & Joinery Cost Calculator for NZ
Estimate custom kitchen cabinetry or wardrobe/storage joinery costs per linear metre, by finish tier. Useful for budgeting a renovation or sense-checking a cabinet maker's quote.
What Drives Cabinetry Pricing in NZ
- Substrate — particle board, MDF, or plywood carcasses, in that order of cost.
- Hardware — generic hinges/runners vs. branded soft-close (Blum, Hettich, Grass).
- Finish — vinyl wrap and laminate are cheapest; painted MDF sits in the middle; lacquer, veneer and stone-look finishes are the most expensive.
- Complexity — straight runs are cheapest per metre; corners, islands, appliance integration (built-in ovens, integrated fridges) and non-standard heights all add cost.
